FLORAL

This winter lets not stick to blacks, blues and greys. I've been browsing about and I just love everything floral! Its feminine, classic and it looks so great with whatever you wear. This season it seems as if every high street store has cottoned onto this trend, topshop, urban outfitters and H&M. You might've seen people wearing a floral vest (from topshop) and I bet you didnt think, err what is she wearing. Am I right or am I wrong? Please lets not stick floral prints with old grannies, lets move it down a generation. So go shopping for anything floral, a headpiece, scarf, vest, shorts or a skirt. Your going to stand out this winter.

FASHION DIVERSITY 2009

During London Fashion week, I went to Fashion Diversity held at the Museum of London. This show features up and coming talent, all hoping to make it in the future. Yesterday the catwalk consisted of 8 finalists and last years winner, Brett Martindale-Durning all showing their amazing collections. Sitting on the front row you really do get to examine the clothes properly and there were safety pins and rips all over the place for some of the designers. However Brett Martindale-Durnings collection named contour séduisant looked the most proffesional overall, we can really see why he won last year. The clothes were extremely flattering and looked very comfortable of the models as they strutted on the catwalk. At only 15 he's presented his inspirational designs on the catwalk many times before, this future fashion house really does look promising. Many great designers have all come from London, including the likes of Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen. So is London becoming the future Fashion Capital?

JEAN JACKETS, FOREVER IN FASHION?

After what seems like years, I am now FINALLY writing this post. I've been thinking everyday on how I would write this one and now I'm finally doing it. I've spent the last couple of days littering my floor with as many fashion magazines I could find in my flat, and wow there were a LOT! Magazines dating back to 1991 (The Face) to Vogue and Harpers Baazar, I commonly came across one particular clothing item, the jean jacket. A favourite for some, and a stern no for others, this is one classic feature in the fashion world. I'm one to talk about fashion every minute of everyday and I've been doing my research. I've talked with friends to find out what they make of this classic timepiece and I get the same response, 'I dont know how to wear it?'. Well is the word I start off with and I end up rambling on and on, giving them fashion hints and tips. So what do I say? 1.NEVER wear denim+denim as it = A REALLY NOT GOOD LOOK .You end up looking dull and blending in with the jean section in Topshop. 2. Light, dark, washed out, jean jackets look great but you have to feel confident. I would personally recommend that you either wear black full length leggings, a tight LBD (available from shops such as Topshop and American Apparel) or shorts which are shaped well. To complete this classic look why not wear some simple white keds, reebok classics or nike dunks for the casual look. For the evening however, high heels is a must for your outfit to work 24 hours. So are jean jackets going to be around for a couple of more decades..I would think so. Examples I have chosen to feature in my post are from French Vogue, Nylon, i-D and Urban Outfitters.

STRICTLY ABOVE THE KNEE.

Most of us are told below the knee is the dress code. Well not according to some designers this season. Chloe and Jean Paul Gaultier (pictured left) have ignored the profound rule and have designed some fabulous boots along with the daring attitude.
So why above the knee? Well above the knee boots have a uniqueness about them, you can wear them with jeans of all cuts, dresses, skirts, and shorts and yet they will make your legs look long and sleek (which all ladies die for). They dont just have to be black leather ones too. Why not a metallic gold pair to go along with your Burberry Mac, or a deep rouge pair to compliment your LBD. Expect to get many heads turning your way, because these long, luscious accessories WILL get you noticed.

WE ALL LOVE VIV, BUT ISN'T THIS A BIT EXTREME.

Now we all love Vivienne Westwood, but getting her quirky logo tattooed to your neck, well that's going quite far. I was watching Big Brother one day and I happened to notice a tattoo on David (one of the contestants). At first I didn't think it was Westwoods logo because I honestly didn't think anyone could be dedicated to a fashion label so much! . However I'm proven wrong as this is exactly what Big brothers David (pictured) has done. Circled in red, we can see a blurred image of the tattoo, obviously showing his love for the renowned designer. It is thought that during his time in the house he recieved a letter from Vivienne. But would you go this far? Would you tattoo Chanels logo, or even Yves Saint Laurents?

THE RETURN OF POP.

FINALLY POP MAGAZINE RETURNS TO OUR SHOP SHELVES, and aren't we glad! Covers designed by Damien Hurst, art and fashion is gelled into one. The choice between both covers is hard so it looks like I'm going to have to start saving up....for the rest of you though I'm sure you could all dig £5 out of your pocket!
